The tradition of Japanese tattooing is one of the oldest and most significant in the world. Its influence is shown at least by the fact that tattoos by Japanese masters adorned the bodies of even kings — for example, the English monarch Edward VII and the Russian tsar Nicholas II were tattooed by the oldest masters of the Land of the Rising Sun.
